DESCRIPTION
BUILDING SIZE 700 sqm
This building in Nonantola, near Modena, is dedicated to the memories and story of the Jewish children who were saved in Villa Emma between 1942 and 1943. Located besides the house where this incredible account took place, “Davanti a Villa Emma” attempts to recreate a narrative through a series of spaces which form an artistic itinerary. An outdoor gathering space for the community is created at the heart of the project, forming a welcoming opening towards the building. With its use of pitched roofs and bricks the design’s ambition is to be respectful of the past and of its surroundings, while being innovative and forward looking.
